NEW We have prepared a short tutorial of how to flask mature orchid seed. In addition to the link here, you may link to this tutorial from The Gardens page.
This month, we have been busy reflasking the protocorms from this spring's green pods.
The baby food jars are a few mother flasks with protocorms growing to reflasking size; some mother flasks contain more than 1000 protocorms. The pint jars are daughter flasks, each containing 20 - 25 young seedlings. The seedlings will grow for 4 - 5 months in most cases, then be ready to refrigerate over the winter.
